Marmen, a world leader in high-precision machining, fabrication and mechanical assembly, is proud to announce the opening of its first plant in the United States, Marmen Energy, located in Brandon, South Dakota. The new plant is fully dedicated to the fabrication of wind towers.
Since 2002, Marmen has successfully been serving the wind power industry in the United States.
“The choice of South Dakota was strategic. This ideal location brings us closer to our clients. In addition, Brandon and Sioux Falls offer a pro-business climate with engaged political, academic and corporate leaders. Lastly, the entire community is facilitating our integration. We believe that the area has one of the best workforces in the country,” said Mr. Patrick Pellerin, President of Marmen.
Upon completion of additional production space, the US facility will total 200,000 square feet. Production is expected to begin in the last quarter of 2013.
“Marmen Energy is an exciting addition to our state’s economy,” said Governor Dennis Daugaard. “Their expertise in renewable energy and international reputation makes Marmen’s decision to locate in Brandon great news for South Dakota. We welcome Marmen Energy to our state.”
Effective immediately, Marmen Energy Co. is launching a vast recruitment campaign. The company plans to employ approximately 250 people when the facility is fully operational in 2014.
“The addition of 250 new jobs to Minnehaha County significantly impacts the growth of our region,” said Nick Fosheim, executive director of the Minnehaha County Economic Development Association. “When an energy company as experienced as Marmen chooses our area, that encourages other companies to consider the business advantages of South Dakota and the communities surrounding Sioux Falls.”
